This northern and tableland district is a treasure trove of outdoor activities. From the excitement of big game fishing around Cairns to relaxing tropical bushwalking in the Daintree Forest or a cross country adventure into the heart of Barramundi territory, whatever your pleasure this area has a multitude of discoveries to quench the appetite of all who venture here.

Cairns is the main town of the Far North, with its own international airport is the ideal place to access the islands of the North Barrier Reef and is a short trip from Cape Tribulation where two World Heritage listed areas merge. The waters of Cairns are world renow'n for the best fighting fish of all - the Black Marlin as well as for breathtaking scuba diving and snorkelling.

Cape York Peninsula is the most northerly point on the mainland and one of the wildest and least populated areas in the country. Visiting the Cape is a 4WD adventure taking 10-14 days for the round trip. It is recommended to travel in the dry season (June-September) as roads may be impassable in the wet season.
